Job Description

The Optimizely Product team works cross-functionally to develop and drive our company vision of being the world's leading digital optimization solution. We each own key product and features and work on everything from strategy to execution and delivery—and continue tracking our work even after launch. We contribute to a great product alongside our designers, engineers, founders, go-to-market teams, and other PMs.

Our Austin office houses our first engineering team outside of San Francisco, and we are looking for a strong product leader to play a key role in our Austin office. We are well on our way to something special at Optimizely, and our Austin Product & Engineering team are key to our next phase of growth.

In 2018 we acquired Austin-based Experiment Engine, and in 2018 we launched Program Management, a solution to manage, scale, and report on high-velocity experimentation programs. Your mission is to make Program Management easier to adopt and delightful to use.

Program Management is just one part of the enterprise experience at Optimizely. This role will be more broadly responsible for developing solutions that ensure our customers at the largest companies in the world can scale their programs to thousands of experiments run by thousands of employees. You will have the opportunity to enhance our identity, authorization, collaboration, notification, and integration capabilities as a leader of this team; working with both Program Management and Enterprise Platform engineers to deliver customer-facing products and core services that ensure an amazing experience with Optimizely.

This role has huge opportunity. As the first Product hire, you’ll have an influential role and lots of opportunity for ownership over your product area and the Austin office culture.

Things you will own and do:

  • Own the Program Management product strategy and roadmap
  • Define and manage the Program Management team backlog

  • Prioritize and design Program Management features for a variety of personas, from executives to developers to analysts

  • Define and manage the Enterprise Platform team backlog

  • Help drive the overall Optimizely platform API strategy

  • Meet with customers regularly

  • Lead, inspire, and influence to make sure your teams are successful

  • Foster a culture of deep customer empathy in our Austin engineering teams

  • Partner closely with San Francisco to develop product strategy, work with go-to-market teams to launch new product and also to help close business

You will succeed if you have:

  • 3-5 years SaaS product management experience, preferably in enterprise software (B2B) and/or collaboration products

  • An understanding of the online marketing/web analytics landscape

  • Passion for experimentation. You see that experimentation is the next big thing in business management and are excited to help the world’s largest companies through their digital transformation.

  • UX Focused. Inefficient workflows and messy designs make you cringe. You empathize with the customer and partner with designers to come up with a user experience that customers love.

  • A business mindset. You’ve proven direct business value from the work you do.

  • Great leadership and communication skills. Asking questions, listening, driving team alignment, and influencing without authority across all levels of the organization.

  • You approach problems from an inquisitive and scientific perspective and are always looking for data to help make decisions, but you know how to balance quantitative and qualitative insights

  • A proven track record of working with engineering and design teams
