Job Description

This role supports the Group's development of a three lines of defence risk management approach, focussing on identification, management and monitoring of the Group's enterprise risks in line with the Group's risk framework and risk appetite objectives. 

The role will be focussed on building up the Group's fundamental enterprise risk management framework, helping business teams to document key controls that support the Group's product and service value chain, as well as helping to set and promote the risk framework guardrails for the business lines to operate to and manage risk exposure within. 

It is an expectation of this role to support a strong risk culture that embodies the Groups' ethics and integrity, balancing commercial and customer needs against the broader risk appetite of the Group.

Key accountabilities:

Operational / Enterprise Risk Management 

  • Work as part of the Group's first line risk team to ensure that the Group's business operations and risk management practices align to the frameworks, policies, strategy, regulatory obligations, and appetite of the Group.
  • Support the Head of Risk to deliver the annual Risk Management Program of Work and related risk framework development activities and help promote the Group's overall risk management maturity capabilities and competencies. 
  • Actively support the business lines to help identify, monitor, measure and manage its risks and key controls.
  • Support the business to drive a strong risk culture and awareness in day-to-day business decisions and business strategic initiatives.

Operations Controls Oversight 

  • The role will have a focussed responsibility on overseeing the daily operation of the key controls for the trading, settlement and clearing functions of the business
  • This will work closely with the Head of Operations, control owners and performers in the Operations team, and will monitor the operating performance of key controls reports and processes to ensure controls are operating effectively on a daily basis
  • Importantly this role will investigate control weaknesses or gaps and report control rectification activities to management as part of a broader controls assurance program 

Internal Controls / Risk Identification & Assessment / Reporting 

  • Help design and deliver across the broader business a consistent approach to documenting key controls, as well as providing guidance on the regular assessment of design / operating effectiveness. 
  • Support the identification and assessment of key enterprise risks, including new and emerging risks, on a regular basis.
  • Support the development and production of comprehensive enterprise risk management reports for management and Board / Board Sub Committee review.

Incident Root Cause Assessment / Response / Rectification 

  • Help incident owners to determine root-cause factors as well as monitoring responding actions and rectification steps to completion. 

Controls Assurance 

  • Help design and develop a key controls assessment process that will form the foundation of an internal controls assurance program to be deployed across the Group. 

Liquidity & Regulatory Capital Monitoring

  • Have responsibility for the monitoring and management of regulatory capital and related liquidity measures for the Group's direct and Intermediated customer trading activities.  This encompasses the management of cash market margin (CMM), Rule S1, derivatives and related liquidity requirements, and associated reporting.

Qualifications

Strong preference will be given to candidates that can demonstrate working experience in aligned roles, along with relevant qualifications including: 

  • Risk Management, Legal or Compliance Experience.
  • Experience with managing an enterprise risk and/or regulatory compliance change program 
  • 2-3 years financial service Industry experience (equities or similar exchange-based trading / investment exposure).
  • Relevant industry qualifications (risk, compliance or business-related).
  • Experience in program or project delivery, stakeholder coordination, and reporting activities.
  • Comfortable with senior management / executive management engagement and communication.
