Company Description
Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projets are undertaking the design, build, and finance of the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
- Stations:
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description
The Temporary Works Inspector is crucial in ensuring that all Temporary Works (TW) are installed in accordance with approved designs, established TW procedures, and applicable Canadian Standards. This role will play a key role in safeguarding site operations with safety as the top priority throughout every stage of temporary works planning, installation, use, and dismantling.
Key Responsibilities:
Inspection & Compliance
- Ensure all Temporary Works are erected and implemented in accordance with the approved design drawings, engineering studies, method statements, and Temporary Works Procedures.
- Coordinate with the TW Designer if requested and as needed,
- Complete and submit inspection reports using approved formats and forms.
- Use inspection checklists as part of a structured review process; record findings and verify that any issues are promptly addressed.
Monitoring & Structural Safety
- Perform regular and scheduled inspections as outlined in the Temporary Works Inspection Plan.
- Ensure temporary structures are inspected routinely to confirm they remain in safe, serviceable condition throughout their use.
- Immediately report any unauthorized alterations, deterioration, or deviations from approved designs to the TW Managers.
- Maintain a proactive presence during TW activities to identify potential safety issues early and support best practices.
Documentation & Coordination
- Verify that all necessary drawings, engineering approvals, and documentation are available before inspections.
- Support the development of detailed Inspection Plans or Check Sheets to guide and document each inspection task.
- Collaborate with the TW Manager, Designers, Coordinator and Methods team to improve inspection strategies and ensure alignment with project needs and Canadian standards.
Record-Keeping & Tracking
- Maintain and update in daily basis the Temporary Works Register and Inspection Log.
- Ensure all records are clear, complete, and traceable in accordance with project procedures and local safety regulations.
Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience on large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly in tunneling, subway, or underground construction with coordination with TW.
- Experience in managing the interface between internal teams and external consultants or contractors to ensure effective delivery of temporary works activities.
- Problem-solving mindset with the ability to anticipate issues, recommend corrective actions, and contribute to continuous improvement.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly with construction teams, workers, engineers, and management.
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings, method statements, and engineering documentation.
Working Conditions:
- This is a site-based role with exposure to varying weather conditions and active construction areas.
- May require flexibility for schedule adjustments as per site conditions and progress.
- Must consistently follow and promote site safety protocols, reporting unsafe conditions immediately.
