Company Description

Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package.

As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.

The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction.

What is the project?

  • A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River).
  • Stations:
    • One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station.
    • Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations.
    • Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown).

Job Description

 

  • Provide Management with data and project analysis. 
  • Review contract documents, construction drawings, generate procurement list, RFIs, Change Orders, Permitting, traffic and lands information, etc. as necessary. 
  • Track productivity, costs, and progress on Ontario Line South. 
  • Review, create and present job cost reports to management. 
  • Provide data and input for month-end reconciliation. 
  • Maintain files and correspondence. 
  • Assist in the coordination, preparation and submission of as-built drawings and design drawings. 
  • Liaise with clients, contractors, and internal departments. 
  • Other administrative duties as required. 
  • Ensure presence at the required working hours to fulfil your responsibilities as set out below.
  • Carry out safety inspections as required by the project.
  • Keep daily diaries and site daily photos.
  • Communicating effectively at all levels including site management, technical specialists, commercial staff, planners, engineers, supervisory staff operatives, suppliers, third parties and client representatives.
  • Maintaining high personal standards in health and safety
  • Maintaining high standards in environmental awareness and behaviour.
  • Maintaining good working relations with client, designer, supply chain and others.
  • Ensuring that Inspection and Test Plans and checklist are in place and followed at the appropriate stages.
  • Assist in preparing "look ahead" programs in conjunction with the section engineer / foreman coordinated with overall site program.
  • Assist in monitoring and reporting progress against "look ahead" programs.
  • Prepare written risk assessments and activity plans for the control of the works.
  • Ensuring written risk assessments and activity plans/method statements are in place prior to works commencing.
  • Recording and reporting Non-Conformances and ensuring appropriate corrective action is taken. Ensuring materials and workmanship meet the specification and maintaining appropriate records and proofs.
  • Take receipt of materials and check description, quantity, markings and condition before signing for receipt.
  • Other duties as required from time to time.

 

Qualifications

  • Graduate from a relevant program, such as Civil Engineering/ Technologist / Construction Management. 
  • 5-10 years of experience in the construction industry, engineering or transportation 
  • Capable of reading and understanding construction drawings and documents. 
  • Sound computer skills – MS Excel / Lotus, MS Word, MS Project.
  • Strong communication skills – oral and written. 
  • Self-motivated with good organizational skills. 
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure. 
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule when required to meet deadlines. 
  • Ability to work with others as a team. 
  • Able to perform in a fast-paced environment.
