Job Description

Our Senior Cooks are cooks which have gained considerable experience working in fine dining kitchens. They are very organized and comfortable working in a high-pressure environment. The Sr Cooks must also be able to give orders within their section, work independently as well as reliably carry out orders handed down to them by the Sous Chef and Chef. Their attention to detail is monumental, able to mentor junior cooks and trouble-shooting any problems that may arise.

THE DAY TO DAY:

  • You are keen to acquire new skills and take direction, feedback, coaching from your from Sous Chef, Chef and/or General Manager
  • You’re enthusiastic about the service ahead and proactively prepare, and organize your station of according to O&B standards
  • You value the recipes, portion controls and presentation specification as set by the restaurant
  • You easily maintain a prep list of station duties
  • You understand the importance of the FIFO method to maximize freshness
  • You’re a team player and step in to assist with receiving and storing delivered items
  • You’re like us, fanatical about cleanliness of food prep areas, equipment, utensils and strictly adhere to sanitation, food safety, and hygiene guidelines
  • Strictly adhere to WHMIS and MSDS guidelines
  • Other duties or responsibilities as assigned or required

Qualifications

  • 2–3 years of cooking experience in a fast-paced, high-volume event or restaurant environment
  • Culinary diploma or degree is considered an asset
  • Strong understanding of professional cooking techniques and knife handling skills
  • Ability to take direction, work efficiently, and remain calm under pressure
  • Physically able to stand for extended periods (100% of shift)
  • Valid Food Handler Certification is a plus
  • Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
  • Full time position
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada
