Job Description

Located in the historic Hudson’s Bay building in downtown Calgary, The Guild is open for all-day dining, drinks and private events. Spanning two floors and featuring one of Calgary’s largest patios, The Guild is a nod to the guildhalls of the past, which served as meeting places for artists and merchants.

THE DAY to DAY

  • You warmly greet guests and effectively manage restaurant flow to maximize seating capacity.
  • You have a proven ability to make decisions and empower others.
  • You take ownership and communicate with Servers, Bartenders and Managers to maintain proper guest flow throughout the restaurant.
  • You escort guests to their table, engaging them in conversation and seat them accordingly.
  • You accurately take and confirm reservations over the phone and in person, modify guest status in Open Table.
  • Develop a briefing sheet before each shift that will inform co-workers of shows/concerts, special events and NBs.
  • You  are fanatical about cleanliness and keeping work area tidy
  • Know all table numbers and maintain awareness of which servers are in each section.
  • You're a team player and open to other duties as assigned or required.

  • High attention to detail
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while working in a fast-paced environment
  • Organizational skills and ability to multi-task
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain a level of professional urgency and momentum
  • Ability to remain standing for long periods of time
  • Minimum 1 year restaurant experience
