We are adding an External Financial Reporting Specialist to our team! This position will be responsible for all aspects of the company’s financial, statutory, and compliance reporting (including annual consolidated financial statements and monthly reporting packages); ensuring that company procedures conform to International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS). The incumbent will be responsible for researching, developing, and documenting technical accounting memos and internal controls.

Job Description
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparation of annual consolidated financial statements and monthly reporting packages
- Execution of financial close process, including month end consolidated journal entries, reconciliation of accounts, and statement of cash flows
- Provide advice and guidance on all technical accounting matters including research of IFRS standards
- Write and/or review memos on complex accounting issues
- Assess current accounting operations, identifying and implementing "best practices" and other process improvements to facilitate “best in class" initiatives and enhance internal controls
- Manage communications with external auditors on external financial statements and accounting issues to ensure auditor agreement with company decisions on accounting disclosures, and issues
- Assist in the coordination of annual audit activities and other reporting requirements with the external auditors
- Review the monthly reporting of subsidiaries and guide the team through appropriate accounting treatments as required
- Work closely with Financial Planning & Analysis and Corporate Development teams to provide the necessary support in projecting the profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow for current and future periods
- Assist in mergers and acquisitions due diligence procedures to help management in making decisions on potential new projects
- Support the tax preparation and filing process for all legal entities and work with external tax advisers
- Support the ERP system integration of subsidiaries
- Provide support in developing new reports for senior executives
- Provide general assistance with ad hoc work and participate in other projects as required
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- CPA with at least 5 years of experience, with heavy exposure to OSC and IFRS including technical accounting and reporting requirements (strong understanding of IFRS 16 is preferred)
- A Big 4 accounting firm experience is preferred
- Keep well-informed of current and proposed accounting standards/practices and assess the impact of accounting changes on financial statements, procedures and internal controls
- Ability to assess processes and systems to identify key control activities and identify and implement improvements to drive efficiencies
- Hands-on team player, able to interact professionally with all levels including staff outside of the Finance group and external auditors
- Strong communication skills (both verbal & written) with an emphasis on report writing
- Self-motivated, goal-oriented individual who is able to work under very tight deadlines with a strong attention to detail
- Positive, can-do attitude that thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
- Willing to navigate through complex data to resolve issues
- Knowledge of Microsoft Navision & Jet Reports is an asset
