The Assistant Controller will be reporting to the Corporate Controller in managing the accounting operations of the company, including the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and a comprehensive set of controls designed to mitigate risk, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with applicable accounting principles and standards.

Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing monthly P&L statements and general ledgers to ensure timely completion of financial reporting including operational reporting and financial presentations
  • Prepare and post journal entries, ensuring efficient completions of month-end functions
  • Supervise a team of 2-3 Sr. Accountants
  • Monitor, supervise and prepare month-end balance sheet account reconciliation and analysis
  • Assist in leading and coaching the accounting teams responsible for full cycle accounting duties including their day to day activities; ensuring all standards are followed
  • Present monthly results to the Restaurant Operations team
  • Assist in annual audit inquiries
  • Capital asset and debt reconciliations
  •  Intercompany reconciliations
  • Provide input and guidance on technology and restaurant system improvements from an accounting/finance perspective
  •  Ad hoc projects

Qualifications

  • CPA designation or in the final steps of a CPA designation with up to date knowledge on accounting regulations
  • 1-2 years of supervisory/management accounting experience
  • Experience with enterprise level accounting systems; Microsoft Navision preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience
  • Experience implementing process and control improvements with an eye on improving profitability and operational efficiency
  • Familiarity with hospitality business and systems is an asset but not required
  • Positive, can-do attitude that thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
