Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Financial Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
    • Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements including notes and analysis to stakeholders.
    • Ensure all balance sheet reconciliations are prepared monthly and reviewed for completeness and accuracy.
    • Implement and maintain robust internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  2. Partner Relationship Management:
    • Establish and nurture relationships with business partners, such as vendors, suppliers, clients, and other stakeholders.
    • Collaborate with partners to develop and maintain mutually beneficial partnerships, fostering trust and open communication.
    • Serve as a key point of contact for partners, addressing inquiries, resolving issues, and providing financial insights to support decision-making.
  3. Compliance and Reporting:
    • Ensure compliance with accounting principles, industry standards, and applicable regulations.
    • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of audit schedules, supporting documentation, and other financial reporting requirements.
    • Collaborate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to facilitate audits and resolve any identified issues.
  4. Team Leadership and Development:
    • Lead and mentor a team of accounting professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, continuous learning, and professional growth.
    • Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring accurate and timely completion of tasks and projects.
    • Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and identify training needs to enhance team effectiveness.

Qualifications

  • Professional CPA designation with up to date knowledge on accounting regulations including ASPE and IFRS
  • 3-5 years of supervisory/management accounting experience
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide strategic insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with partners.
  • High level of integrity, ethical standards, and confidentiality.
  • Experience with enterprise level accounting systems; Microsoft Navision preferred
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel experience
  • Proven leader with the ability to work closely with small and large teams
  • Experience implementing process and control improvements with an eye on improving profitability and operational efficiency
  • Familiarity with hospitality business and systems is an asset but not required
  • Positive, can-do attitude that thrives in fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment
