Company Description

The Human Resources Specialist is an integral member of the HR team and is responsible for developing and implementing strategic initiatives with a focus on employee policies, employee relations, and HRIS reporting. The HR Specialist will also assist in the areas of training, recruitment and health & safety when necessary. The HR specialist is also responsible for project planning, design and implementation of new initiatives.

Job Description

  • Responsible for adhering to and implementing HR policies and procedures
  • Anticipate and prevent employee concerns through proactive employee relations support
  • Assist with employee benefits program including enrolment and responding to employee inquiries.
  • Assist with employee accidents; investigate the accidents, analyze possible causes and recommend suggestions for improvement, submit all accident reports (WSIB,WCB)
  • Assist with the coordination and documentation of training seminars including CPR, Food Handler’s and other training courses
  • Support the team in ensuring our HRIS (Ceridian Dayforce) can scale for organizational growth so that we can effectively and efficiently manage volume of administration through the optimization of the HRIS.
  • Collaborate on the creation and delivery of HRIS training, including documentation.
  • Assist with the development and facilitation of training initiatives within assigned restaurants and assist in development of new/revised training manuals
  • Regularly visit assigned restaurants, facilitating HR functions to support restaurant team
  • Assist with other team projects and duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary Degree/Diploma or equivalent experience in Human Resources; CHRP designation or in pursuit of
  • A minimum of 2 years progressive HR experience within the hospitality industry
  • Knowledge and practical application experience of Health & Safety and Employment Standards Legislation across Canada
  • On-going learning efforts, and professional membership that demonstrate a commitment to the Human Resources profession
  • Strong business acumen
  • Self-starter, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Ability to multi-task, and change priorities constantly as needed in a fast-paced environment
  • Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills
