Located within the Muir hotel, BKS is accessible by a small, discreet elevator. The space features a luxurious indoor bar and lounge dressed in rich velvets, marble and mohair; as well as a large patio with dramatic ocean views. Job Description

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering fantastic service while living by Freehand Hospitality’s values & visions. The candidate will be involved in various aspects of the restaurant, which include: leading the host team, training and development, and other administrative duties. Additionally, the Head Host will act as a liaison to guests, colleagues and management to ensure a positive dining experience. The Head Host will leave a lasting impression with all guests through their professionalism and attention to detail.

  • Assist guests with booking VIP table reservations and special requests
  • Interact with guests by creating and maintaining a guest profile system and sharing information with all staff
  • Greet and assign guests to table
  • Ability to successfully handle guest complaints and responds to OpenTable comments
  • Answer the phone and efficiently work phone system
  • Updates and organizes office calendar of monthly events in the city
  • Communicates menu and wine list and any other changes to chefs and managers and ensures menus are always in perfect condition
  • Manages the host log & maintains, cleans and restocks the host desk
  • Involved in training and interviewing of new team members
  • Communicates reservations, special requests and expected volume & business to BOH and FOH management
  • Assist FOH team with duties such as resetting and bussing tables, passing canapés, etc.
  • Market and promote events on property

  • A degree/diploma in hospitality or in pursuit of desirable
  • 1-3 years working experience in a similar host or administrative capacity
  • Strong knowledge of OpenTable Reservation system
  • Work well under pressure; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Self-starter, flexible, and able to work independently
  • Strong organizational, communication & leadership skills
  • Excellent food and beverage menu knowledge
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional telephone etiquette
  • Superior customer service skills in addition to impeccable personal presentation required
