Job Description

Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Catering Manager is accountable for coordinating the logistical operations and execution of offsite events.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Communicates the vision to all catering team members and leads by example. 
  •  Reinforces the O&B values daily and inspires the team with his/her exciting vision for the future
  • Manages load in/out and tear down of events
  • Regularly monitors and achieves the O&B points of technical service and points of details
  • Shows leadership in creating a culture that revolves around the experience and enjoyment of food and wine
  • Demonstrates high personal integrity, business ethics and takes every opportunity to promote catering
  • Conducts recruitment, selection and training and development initiatives as well as performance management and employee coaching
  • Uses conflict/resolution and problem solving skills
  • Assists with the tracking of sales in POS, invoicing, and managing inventory
  • Liaises with vendors and rental agencies 
  • Conduct briefings with event service staff prior to each function
  • Approves scheduling of event staff to properly service events/functions
  • Ensures accuracy and timeliness of payroll records
  • Creates floor plans and agendas to ensure proper guest flow
  • Review BEOs with Coordinators to ensure accuracy
  • Attend site tours with Coordinators in order to coordinate the logistics for the event
  • Greet clients on the day of the event and review details prior to guest arrival to ensure accuracy
  • Executes the events to the highest O&B standards
  • Creates post events including Moments of Truth and opportunities for future events
  • Ensure all events are meeting and exceeding all Health and Safety, and Smart Serve policies

 

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma/degree in Business or Hospitality considered an asset
  • 3-5 years in a leadership capacity managing off site catering and events
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience managing a variety of events (inclusive of small, large and high profile functions)
  • WSET Intermediate Wine Certificate or comparable considered an asset
  • Must possess superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a large and variable work load, ensuring timely and accurate completion of assigned work
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Strong business acumen
  • Team player
