Job Description

For a new Center of Competence at Oetiker China in Tianjin we are sourcing multiple positions from various engineering disciplines. You will be doing research, development and customization of mechanical, electrical, mechatronic and software based products, production processes and assembly tools. As part of global project teams, you will be driving key development activities: 

  • Innovating and developing new products and processes while meeting quality, cost and time (QCT) deliverables.
  • Leading and coordinating individual engineering activities by applying agile project management methodologies and utilization of latest collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Teams)
  • Coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional project team, suppliers and customers.
  • Deploying state-of-the-art engineering (e.g. Design for Six Sigma) and technical risk management (e.g. FMEA) tools.
  • Defining technical requirements and tracks fulfillment. Lives ZeroDefect mentality by focusing on robust and reliable products and processes.
  • Running feasibility studies and initiates related prototype manufacturing
  • Planning and initiating verification activities together with Test Center. 

Depending on your engineering discipline, you will be further:

  • Product: Creating detail drawings, assembly drawings & production documents.
  • Process: Researching & developing robust (repeatable & reproducible) manufacturing processes. Creating detail drawings, assembly drawings & production documents. Supervising assembly of production machines/tools and ensuring smooth hand-over to global engineering.
  • Product Testing: Executing feasibility, verification and validation tests. Consolidating and evaluating test results. Developing & continuous improve test equipment and global procedures. Supporting R&D with material engineering expertise (analysis and selection). Liaising with material suppliers and external testing partners.
  • Electrical / Software / Software Testing: Researching, developing and testing electrical and software solutions for electromechanical products. Designing electrical circuits and innovative software.
  • Mechatronic: Researching & developing innovative mechatronic solutions for electromechanical products and processes. Designing state-of-the-art industrial manufacturing processes by means of PLC programming and systems engineering software (e.g. Labview)

Education / Experience

  • 5+ years experience as R&D Engineer for with focus on Product/Process/Testing/Electrical/Software, or equivalent role, preferably in automotive or in a high-mix/high-volume OEM environment
  • Higher degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Software Engineering (BSc, MSc) combined with relevant work experience. Affinity to elecromechanical products.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experienced in Quality Systems such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
  • Design / Process: 3D-CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks
  • Electrical / Software: Good knowledge of SPS/uC programming, CodeSys, C# and Test Software, preferably Labview
  • Mechatronic: PLC programming and Test Software (Labview)
