Job Description

For a new Center of Competence at Oetiker China in Tianjin we are sourcing multiple mechanical engineering positions with various specialization. You will be doing research, development and customization of mechanical and electromechanical products (clamps, rings, assembly tools) and manufacturing processes. As part of global project teams, you will be driving key development activities: 

  • Innovating and developing new products and processes while meeting quality, cost and time (QCT) deliverables.
  • Leading and coordinating individual engineering activities by applying agile project management methodologies and utilization of latest collaboration tools (Jira, Confluence, MS Teams)
  • Coordinating and collaborating with cross-functional project team, suppliers and customers.
  • Deploying state-of-the-art engineering (e.g. Design for Six Sigma) and technical risk management (e.g. FMEA) tools.
  • Defining technical requirements and tracks fulfillment. Lives ZeroDefect mentality by focusing on robust and reliable products and processes.
  • Running feasibility studies and initiates related prototype manufacturing
  • Planning and initiating verification activities together with Test Center. 

Depending on your engineering specialization, you will be further:

  • Product Design: Creating detail drawings, assembly drawings & production documents.
  • Process Design: Researching & developing robust (repeatable & reproducible) manufacturing processes. Creating detail drawings, assembly drawings & production documents. Supervising assembly of production machines/tools and ensuring smooth hand-over to global engineering.
  • FEA: Finite Element Analysis (FEA) based analytical design & development of products and processes.
  • Testing: Executing feasibility, verification and validation tests. Consolidating and evaluating test results. Developing & continuous improving test equipment and global procedures. Supporting R&D with material engineering expertise (analysis and selection). Liaising with material suppliers and external testing partners.

Education / Experience

  • 5+ years experience as R&D Engineer with focus on Product, Process, FEA or Testing, preferably in an automotive or assembly tool OEM environment
  • Higher degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSc, MSc) combined with relevant work experience. Affinity to electromechanical products
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills in English
  • Experienced in Quality Systems such as IATF 16949 and ISO 9001
  • Design / Process Design: 3D-CAD experience, preferably SolidWorks
  • FEA: FEA experience, preferably ANSYS
  • Testing: Materialography (metal, polymer, composite) experience
