Job Description

Job Summary-Supplier Quality Development Engineer.

  • Participates in the supplier selection process to ensure appropriate capabilities to source the specific product or services needed
  • Conducts 2nd party audits at Supplier locations (New source selection, IATF-16949,New Product Launch, Process Audit, Corrective Action, etc.)
  •  Develops suppliers through best practices, lessons-learned, on-site visits, audits, etc.
  •  Ensures a positive relationship is maintained with our suppliers.
  • Drives initiatives to foster a zero defect culture at supplier locations and in the plant
  • Conducts supplier APQP activity to ensure successful new product launches
  • Completes supplier PPAP / Safe Launch review and approval process
  • Conducts manufacturing floor quality problem solving with quality inspectors and operations personnel.
  • Supports the quality laboratory to review and disposition supplier incoming product non-conformances
  •  Supports the quality laboratory with supplier non-conforming product containment and return activities.
  • Supports with on-site sorting arrangement activities when required (internal / 3rd party)
  • Informs suppliers of all non-conformances and requests corrective action to eliminate and prevent recurrence of the non-conformance.
  • Supports robust problem solving methodology to support effective corrective actions at suppliers and internally
  • Documents, tracks, reviews, and approves all supplier corrective actions in the corrective action database
  • Is responsible for the timely and accurate reporting of supplier quality performance indicators
  • Ensures supplier charge-backs are completed on end of month basis
  • Provides support on customer reported concerns relating to supplier product.
  • Attend daily Operations Meeting as an integral member in communicating status of supplier complaints.

Qualifications

A Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or a minimum of 5 years’ equivalent experience in the automotive industry is required

IATF16949 Internal Auditor Certification

AIAG core tool requirements (PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, APQP, etc.) training

 

Additional Information

Ability to travel to Oetiker Supplier locations.
