Job Description

Our Macraes underground mining department are on the search for a capable Reliability Engineer. Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, this role will work to own and optimise asset strategies for the mobile fleet, analyse performance, and continually improve reliability and safety to create value and sustainability.

The role is a key driver of reliability performance, defect elimination, and data-driven decision-making across the Macraes Underground mobile fleet.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead asset criticality assessments, determine appropriate mitigation strategies, and align stakeholders.
  • Develop appropriate maintenance strategies and tactics, including maintenance intervals and spare holding requirements.
  • Build and align master data in Pronto (CMMS) to support the strategy, including asset registers, preventive maintenance tasks, and bills of materials.
  • Analyse performance data through both ad-hoc analysis and structured report building.
  • Lead structured defect elimination and continuous improvement initiatives to close performance gaps.
  • Proactively monitor asset condition and recommend corrective maintenance based on condition monitoring results.
  • Monitor and report on performance using fleet management and Pronto data.
  • Facilitate and lead Root Cause Analysis of losses or near misses.

Key Success Measures:

  • Improvement in Underground Mobile Fleet availability and reliability.
  • Reduction in unplanned downtime.
  • Effective identification and elimination of repeat defects.
  • Timely completion and quality of Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Improvement in maintenance strategy effectiveness (PM compliance vs corrective work).
  • Quality and utilisation of asset data in Pronto and reporting systems.

Qualifications

  • Full, Class 1 diver's licence, with ability to drive manual vehicles preferred.
  • Applicants must have full NZ working rights / unrestricted NZ Visa to be eligible. 
  • Tertiary level Engineering qualification preferred.
  • 3+ years experience working with data.
  • 3+ years experience in a maintenance reliability role in mining or related heavy industry.
