Job Description
This role aims to coordinate and oversee daily civil construction activities, coordinating with supervisors and contractors to ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with approved construction drawings, specifications, and methodologies. Act as delegate for the Civil Superintendent when required.
- Champion a strong safety culture by ensuring compliance with MSHA, OceanaGold safety standards, and environmental requirements. Lead safety meetings, hazard management, incident reporting and investigations, and ensure corrective actions are implemented and closed within required timeframes.
- Support project planning, forecasting, scheduling, QA/QC, surveying, engineering coordination, and construction monitoring to ensure quality standards, project milestones, and technical requirements are achieved. Participate in design reviews and recommend construction methodologies that improve project efficiency.
- Manage contractor performance and maintain effective coordination with Engineering, Planning, Project Controls, QA/QC, Survey, and other project stakeholders to resolve issues, communicate progress, and ensure successful project delivery.
- Provide day-to-day support and coaching to supervisors, conduct performance evaluations, communicate project status and risks to the Superintendent, report construction variances, and identify opportunities to improve construction processes and operational performance.
Qualifications
- 3-5 Years of survey experience
- 3-5 Heavy civil works in mining environment
- MS Suite and Propeller
- Cost Estimate
- CAD Experience
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work in both office and operational mining environments.
- Ability to regularly access active mining and processing areas to support operational teams, conduct site visits, investigations, coaching, and workforce engagement activities.
- Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb stairs and access elevated work areas as required.
- Ability to wear and use mandatory personal protective equipment (PPE).
