Job Description
Ditch the FIFO lifestyle or working in remote mining towns and come to the ultimate residential gold mine location of Macraes in the stunning region of Otago, NZ. Enjoy the outdoors lifestyle, with unspoilt beaches, walking and biking trails all on your doorstep.We are seeking an experienced Underground Mining Engineer to join the Technical Services team. This role provide the team with a professional production engineering service to enable production targets to be achieved.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Deliver quality drill and blast designs to operations in support of the mining plan.
- Schedule short term production activities.
- Continuous improvement through regular stoping reviews and reconciliations.
- Create detailed stope designs based on conceptual designs, development as-builts and current geological block models, that maximise extraction of the available resource.
- Produce drill designs and charge plans to meet the requirements of the monthly plan.
- Drill designs and charge plans to comply with documented OGL standards where available and industry best practice.
- Sufficient design stocks to be maintained to ensure minimal disruption and delays to the production cycle.
- Provision of design tonnes and grades to the planning department no later than 24 hours prior to commencement of the weekly planning cycle.
- Perform regular stope inspections (minimum of twice weekly or as directed) and document observations clearly.
- Provision of current brow positions and blasted stocks to planning function on a weekly basis or as otherwise directed to assist with timely delivery of monthly forecast.
- Communicate issues identified with technical tool and software across the Macraes Underground technical service department, including use cases and solutions.
- Work with other OGL departments to ensure production at Macraes Underground is maximised.
- All work to be performed in accordance with OGL safety standards, and all work directions issued to operations to be planned and comply with those same safety standards.
Qualifications
A recognised degree in Engineering (Mining)
Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is essential
A minimum of 12 months experience in underground mining
