Job Description

The Didipio mine is located on Luzon Island in the Philippines and is the Company’s only asset that produces both gold and copper. Didipio was built by OceanaGold in 2013 and operates fully as underground mine, with over 800 employees that support the mine.

Reporting to the Mining Engineer Superintendent, the Senior Production Engineer will oversee day-to-day functions within the mining engineering team and provide technical leadership across key underground mining disciplines.

The role will help ensure that engineering standards, systems, and processes support safe and reliable operations, while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and support the underground mine engineering function to deliver safe, efficient, and cost-effective production outcomes.
  • Provide technical guidance across drill and blast, ventilation, paste backfill, load and haul, and development engineering.
  • Ensure engineering designs and mine plans incorporate appropriate risk assessments, controls, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive compliance with company standards, local regulations, and international best practice.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to optimise production, cost control, and operational performance.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Collaborate with mining operations, planning, scheduling, capital projects, contractors, and other support functions.
  • Maintain a strong field presence and engage directly with underground crews to support execution and performance.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years’ underground mining experience, preferably in mechanised and/or sublevel open stoping operations.
  • Strong background across multiple engineering disciplines, including drill and blast, ventilation, paste fill, development, and load and haul.
  • Leadership exposure within technical or operational teams.
  • Professional certification or registration.
  • Explosive and blast foreman licences will be highly regarded.

Technical skills and knowledge

  • Advanced understanding of sublevel open stoping and long-hole stoping methods.
  • Experience with stope design principles, sequencing, dilution control, and recovery optimisation.
  • Strong capability in long-hole drill and blast design, execution, and quality assurance.
  • Knowledge of paste backfill systems, mine development, load and haul systems, and mining cost drivers.
  • Proficiency in mine planning and engineering software such as Deswik, Ventsim, and Pronto.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and cost control capability in complex underground environments.
