Job Description

Our Macraes IT team are on the search for a Senior IT Officer. This position will function as the IT technical lead for site in the areas of Systems Administration, Database Administration and IP Networking. Additionally, the role will assist the IT Supervisor to manage site IT projects to ensure Macraes delivers quality solutions, within budget and to the appropriate standard as well as helping out with Level 1 and 2 tickets as required. 

Working between the Macraes mine site (2 days per week) and the Dunedin city office, this role works a 9-day fortnight structure of 5 days on, 2 days off, 4 days on, 3 days off, 7:00am - 4:30pm, along with some scheduled on-call requirements. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities: 

  • Responding to Level 3 tasks as well as some Level 1 and 2 tasks as required
  • Develop knowledge to become team expert across varying key site-wide systems
  • Monitor, maintain and diagnose all Macraes IT systems – with a focus on improving the performance and resilience of the systems
  • Scope, plan and implement IT solutions for both internal and operations-lead projects
  • Administer site data backup system including performing regular test restores
  • Configure and install new systems and hardware across the Macraes site
  • Document existing and new systems and any systems changes
  • Participate in the Macraes IT after hours on-call roster
  • Administer site physical and virtual servers, ensuring they are properly maintained, alarms are investigated and resolved, and systems are tuned for performance and reliability
  • Develop IP networking skills and work to becoming site lead for networking

Qualifications

  • Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred
  • A Tertiary-level degree or similar qualification in IT or Computer Science
  • A current NZ work Visa is required for this position

Experience:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience working in a team-based IT environment, preferably in a senior position
