Job Description

This Construction Crew lead position will join the Palomino Underground (PUG) Development Project team. This role will report to the Project Engineer and lead a small team focusing on the safe and successful construction/installation of the required underground infrastructure (i.e. ventilation devices, pump stations, concrete pads and formwork, utility installation, etc).

  • Perform all work required: operate equipment in a safe and productive manner, understand and complete direction from direct supervisor
  • Perform all assigned tasks with limited supervision
  • Perform all duties and activities in a manner that conforms to safety requirements
  • Perform outside work in varying weather conditions and adverse conditions U/G such as water
  • Meet physical demands for the role: Be able to lift bags of cement and stick powder and load them on a truck along with the ability to carry ground support, such as bolts and wire panels
  • Maintain equipment through safe operation and proper housekeeping and inspections
  • Mentor new team members and apprentices.
  • Assist Project Engineer with project planning, tooling, and equipment needs.
  • Complete daily reports and inspection reports and submit to Project Engineer

Qualifications

  • On-the-job experience and or vocational training.
  • Experience operating heavy machinery.
  • Underground Lead experience is preferred.
  • Underground Construction experience required
  • Welding experience preferred
  • Concrete work experience required
  • Knowledge of underground ventilation devices (air doors, regulators, stoppings, etc) preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts. 7 on 7 off Day Shift
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface and underground mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
