Job Description

OceanaGold is seeking a suitably qualified, experienced, and reliable Superintendent – Maintenance (Surface Electrical & Control Systems) to provide leadership, governance and technical direction for the maintenance, reliability, integrity and continuous improvement of all Surface Electrical Infrastructure, Power Generation Assets, High Voltage and Low Voltage Distribution Systems, Process Plant Electrical Equipment, Instrumentation, Control Systems, PLC and SCADA networks across the Didipio Operation.

The role is accountable for the safe, reliable and compliant operation and maintenance of the Area 13 Power Generation Stations, the 69kV transmission line from Bayombong Substation to Didipio Mine, all mine HV/LV reticulation systems, and serves as the principal electrical engineering liaison with the Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB), National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) and relevant government regulatory authorities.

Key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Evaluates existing design and applies improvement, checks possible risks and extends study for surety of use
  • Enhances current engineering design and conducts thorough analysis considering multiple areas of application and viability
  • Evaluates and analyses available technology and processes as an aid to determining machine reliability
  • Runs asset life cycle costing, root cause failure analysis, reliability modelling and assessments, fit for purpose analyses and failure patterns of equipment to provide reliability engineering and technical support to production, maintenance and project teams
  • Advanced understanding of and ability to apply the competency in a full range of situations
  • Designs and implements advanced budgeting techniques, such as zero-based budgeting or activity-based costing
  • Recommends action plans to check identified risks and hazards
  • Develops solutions to mitigate risk and maximize value
  • Serves as a subject matter expert in communications, electrical and dewatering equipment installation and maintenance, driving continuous improvement and innovation in relevant practices and technologies
  • Performs advance analysis and repair on various communications, electrical and dewatering equipment
  • Carefully reviews proposed changes in project plans (timeline, cost, design) based on evidence presented and provides a final recommendation
  • Recommends an effective course of action for resolving complex contractor issues that are aligned with applicable laws and guidelines
  • Regularly meets with staff to facilitate discussion on improvement opportunities and create plans for improvement or innovation

Educational Background: Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering

Mandatory License: Professional Electrical Engineer (PEE) – Philippines

Experience:

  • Minimum 15 years electrical engineering experience
  • Minimum 10 years mining or heavy industrial experience
  • Minimum 5 years in senior maintenance leadership roles
  • Experience managing HV transmission and distribution systems
  • Experience with power generation assets
  • Experience with PLC, DCS and SCADA systems

Desired Qualifications: Registered Electrical Engineer or Control Systems Engineer
