Job Description

To operate heavy equipment to support civil and infrastructure projects in a production mining environment. This role focuses on safety, precision, and executing work to grade while contributing to critical site development.

Location:           Haile Gold Mine, South Carolina
Department:      Capital Projects
Reports to:        Supervisor – Civil/Infrastructure
Schedule:           5-5-4 rotation | 12.5-hour shifts (Days Only)
Position Type:   Hourly (Overtime Eligible)

  • Operate heavy equipment, including dozers (D5) and excavators (336,352)
  • Perform grade work to design specifications and site plans
  • Support earthworks, road construction, drainage, slope work and site prep
  • May be required to operator other civil support equipment such as ADT (45tonne), Soil Compactors
  • Conduct pre-start inspections and report safety or mechanical issues
  • Maintain accurate production and equipment records
  • Follow all company procedures and MSHA safety standards
  • Work collaboratively with Supervisors and project teams to meet timelines

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years in a mining or civil construction environment
  • Proven experience operating dozers and excavators
  • Demonstrated ability to follow grade
  • Experience in a production-driven environment
  • Strong safety focus and hazard awareness
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear and see.
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.
