OceanaGold is seeking for a Senior charge up to operate the Charmec and charge basket for the purpose of preparing and charging blast holes for stope production, development and for miscellaneous charging.
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of our growing underground team.
Key tasks and responsibilities
- Load charmec and charge basket according to charge plan and ensure stock count is accurate.
- Follow all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and/or approved training packages specified for particular equipment or tasks and be involved in the development and review/revision of procedures when required.
- Give a thorough shift changeover and pass on relevant information to cross shift.
- Be able to charge up and down holes.
- Provide support to the development charge crew as and when required.
- Attend and participate in pre-shift safety and tool box safety meetings.
- Use appropriate risk management tools prior to undertaking tasks.
- Take corrective action to eliminate hazards within the workplace and / or to report hazards that cannot be corrected.
- Assist with the training and development of other mine operators by providing on-the-job information.
- Report all incidents and near misses and workplace hazards and assist in investigations if required.
- Seek appropriate first aid or medical treatment for yourself and co-workers when required, and present for work at all times in a healthy and fit condition.
- Clean charge machines and baskets regularly, keep housekeeping standards high.
- Comply with all site rules and requirements that may be introduced or varied from time to time.
- Establish and maintain the highest possible standards of housekeeping and cleanliness in individual work area and mine site in general.
- Ensure stock-takes are always accurate.
- Submit all stope preparation and charge reports.
Qualifications
- Must have service crew, development and production charge up experience.
- Must have 2-3 years in mining.
- First Aid Certificate.
- Full Manual Driver’s License.
- Water down, scaling Ticket.
- Service Crew Ticket.
- Approved Handlers Ticket.
- Explosive Handling, transport, and storage of explosives Ticket.
- Explosives [2.1] Charge vehicle operation.
