Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to assist in the supervision of the electrical department within the Macraes processing plant and open pit mine. You will assist the Senior Supervisor - Electrical to lead and supervise the electrical department and sub-contractors to efficiently maintain the reliability of the electrical systems across the processing plant and surface facilities, to optimise efficiency and reliability.

Some of the key tasks and responsibilities:

  • Schedule and lead the electrical maintenance as planned via the maintenance planning workflow process within allocated budget and time frames.
  • Co-ordinate electrical maintenance activities at the Processing Plant and Surface Mining Departments, as prepared on the planned preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Supervise and assist with the implementation of the planned preventative maintenance schedules. This includes instrumentation, PLC’s and the DCS.
  • Generate preventive maintenance activities for equipment with a high level of plant criticality and review existing preventive maintenance plans and schedules.
  • Assist in the development of procedures for regular maintenance and shutdown related tasks that define job planning, training, permit and safety requirements. Collate this information into work packs. 
  • Liaise with and assists the mechanical, metallurgical, operational and mining staff as requested.
  • Assist the Senior Supervisor - Electrical in coordinating electrical contractors across site.
  • Liaise with stores personnel to expedite the timely supply of equipment, by providing recommendations for inventory levels and specifications regarding the type and quality of spares.
  • Assist with estimates and costs for prospective new projects or modifications when requested.
  • Manage leave applications and maintain rosters to ensure electrical coverage at all times.
  • Develop Scopes of Works to plan and schedule work effectively.
  • Leading, coaching and developing your crew
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders and external contractors

Qualifications

  • Formal Electrical trade qualification
  • A minimum of 5 years post-apprenticeship experience within a processing or heavy industry environment.
  • A minimum of 3 years mining industry (or equivalent heavy industry) experience.
  • Previous experience in a leadership role
  • Proven experience with instrumentation, PLC and control systems is essential.
  • Experience scheduling and planning maintenance work would be an advantage.
  • Full and current driver licence and competence driving a manual vehicle.
