Job Description

Our Macraes Open Pit team are seeking a Purchasing and Logistics Supervisor. If you have experience in a management role within the Purchasing and Logistics environment, are keen to lead your own team and join the largest gold mine in New Zealand, apply now!

This role will work to identify, forecast and ensure timely delivery of supply requirements to internal customers, through the use of planning, control and communication processes, to maximise supply efficiency levels across the Macraes Open Pit stores. 

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
 

  • Develops and implements systems and procedures that ensures continual liaison with the supply chain (internal and external) with a view of meeting or exceeding agreed quality, time and cost requirements.
  • Maintains  effective and accurate inventory control systems,  including  minimum/maximum  stock levels,  rolling  and  annual  stock  takes,  and  provides  meaningful  reporting  information   on  stock  levels and variances.
  • Continually investigates supply and delivery options to ensure optimum quality and price.
  • Contributes to the tendering process of supply contracts, monitors performance and maintains meaningful recording and reporting of transactions.
  • Carries out planning and scheduling of major consumables, allowing for contingencies, to ensure operational and budget requirements are met or exceeded.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to establish a strong culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assign tasks according to individuals’ abilities and agree what is to be accomplished.  Give clear instructions, actively listen, provide constructive feedback, and hold regular meetings.
  • Contribute positively to continuous safety improvement in the Purchasing & Logistics and Open Pit Maintenance departments.

Qualifications

  • ​​​​​Full Manual Drivers Licence
  • A tertiary qualification in Logistics / Distribution / Supply Chain Management or similar is highly regarded
  • Current NZ forklift licence
  • First Aid Certificate (or ability to obtain one)

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a Purchasing and Logistics environment is essential.
  • Exposure to a mining, manufacturing or production environment is desirable.
  • Previous management exposure is an advantage.
  • A  high  degree  of  computer   literacy  is  required,  with  effective  skills  in  MS  products desired.
