Job Description

Please note we require a minimum of a B grade Tunnel Manager's Certificate of Competence or transferable WA Shift Boss/Supervisor qualification for this position. 

Macraes' underground operations team is seeking an experienced Supervisor / Shift Boss. This position is primarily responsible for overseeing safe and efficient mining practices inline with the published mining schedules. This role is also responsible for the efficient use of all equipment and safe work processes underground.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Supervise all underground activities.
  • Ensure all development headings are mined to plan
  • Ensure all production activities are conducted to plan
  • In conjunction with the Production Engineer, ensure resources are in place to meet mining schedules
  • Effective use of SIMBIO data system to create a productive 24hr rolling plan
  • Review underground mining methods and implement improvements when required
  • Review production targets in conjunction with Mining Superintendent to coordinate the implementation of operational improvement plans
  • Retain a clear understanding of the production forecast, work with production engineers to maintain focus on common goals
  • Lead and develop mining personnel to ensure cultural behaviours are inline with company values
  • Ensure all incidents are documented in INX and correct process is followed as per company guidelines
  • Investigate non-compliances to policies and standards and take action to ensure positive outcomes for the underground mine operations group

Qualifications

  • New Zealand A or B Grade Tunnel Managers’ Certificate of Competency or transferable WA shift Boss/Supervisor qualification
  • Controlled Substance Licence suitable for operation at Macraes Underground Mine
  • Full and Current Driver Licence, ability to drive manual vehicles is preferred. 

Experience:  

  • A minimum of 5 years underground metalliferous mining experience with experience in development and production techniques;
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred but is not essential
  • Extensive knowledge of the practices and techniques applied in underground mining.
