Job Description

  • Develops and implements effective legal strategies to address complex issues, including litigation, regulatory compliance, and dispute resolution;
  • Represents the organization in litigation, negotiations, and  legal proceedings demonstrating persuasive oral advocacy skills;
  • Manages a diverse portfolio of legal matters, prioritizing tasks, and allocating resources effectively to achieve legal goals;
  • Participates in the conduct of stakeholder mapping ,recommends appropriate engagement strategies and assists in the management of certain stakeholders;
  • Proactively identifies opportunities to use stakeholder engagement to deliver strategic benefits;
  • Develops and implements contractor management strategies that align with legal requirements, risk management principles, and industry standards; and
  • Conducts thorough due diligence on potential contractors, assessing their financial stability, track record, and compliance history.

Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way;
  • Member of the Philippine Bar in good standing;
  • At least 5 years in the practice of law  and 3 years’ experience or exposure as in-house counsel or in government relations, legal management, and compliance and permitting;
  • At least 2 years in a leadership role;
  • Satisfactory knowledge on corporate and tax laws;
  • Good decision-making skills;
  • With excellent skills in writing and oral communication, negotiation, being resilient, strong people skills, and team player; 
  • Drives for continuous improvement and innovation; and
  • The role will be based in Manila office.
