Job Description

Seeking a suitably qualified, and motivated Geologist- GIS and Data who will contribute to the design and implementation of geospatial mapping and characterizing of the geological data. The role is fixed term employment and will report to the Senior Geologist – GIS and Data.

  • Develops and maintain a comprehensive database of GIS projects, reports, and information;
  • Assists the department’s data analysis efforts by working with other teams to identify data trends and patterns that support the organization’s objectives;
  • Support the updating and management of the Geographic Information System (GIS) database of geospatial projects by capturing, digitising, and reviewing open file data;
  • Validating and managing geological data of Philippine projects;
  • Assists with reports and data extraction when needed;
  • Monitors and analyze information and data systems and evaluate their performance to discover ways of enhancing them; and
  • Ensures digital databases and archives are protected from security breaches and data losses.

Qualifications

  • Behaviour consistent with OceanaGold Values and the OceanaGold Way;
  • Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Geology;
  • Licensed Geologist
  • Proficiency in GIS software packages (MapInfo, ArcGIS and QGIS, etc) will be well regarded;
  • Should possess a strong drive for health and safety management and
  • Drive for continuous improvement and innovation.
