Job Description

JOB RESPONSIBILITES / ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maximize the value of our natural resources, plant and equipment through:
  • Contributing to safe work environment with a goal of no lost time injuries.
  • Developing team members to increase value globally and within the team.
  • Achieving or exceeding budget compliant targets for gold production.
  • Achieving or exceeding budget compliant targets necessary for cost/tonne and AISC.
  • Actively improving areas of safety and environmental protection and awareness.
  • Contributing to departmental performance in turn increasing milling OEE%.
  • Conduct and assist with investigative and systematic testing for plant recovery improvements, cost reduction and/or plant throughput improvements.
  • Attend to a variety of production / metallurgy meetings and maintain required channels of communication.
  • Coordinate and manage external consultants and resources as required.
  • Help coordinate activities for metallurgical laboratory as required.
  • Attend trainings/development programs and perform other reasonable duties required by the Company.

  • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental policies. Contributes to the achievement of targets & objectives, and applies procedures, permits and instructions.

Qualifications

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Position Qualification:

  • Knowledge:
  • Basic understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) requirements.
  • Basic knowledge of comminution, flotation, CIL, carbon handling, refining, cyanide destruction circuits.
  • Basic knowledge of analytical and metallurgical laboratory operations.
  • Basic knowledge of plant process control systems including advanced process control techniques.
  • Basic knowledge of metallurgical accounting procedures and gold standards protocols.
  • Advanced problem-solving skills with complex problems, including both definition of the problem and generation and evaluation of solutions.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, including goal setting and monitoring of both own and others’ performance.
  • Knowledge of water treatment processes is beneficial.

 

  • Skills & Abilities:
  • Proven commitment to behaviour-based safety culture.
  • Proven ability to interact with all levels of employees in a positive and cooperative manner for mutual success and the success of the company.
  • Ability to develop processing parameters for optimum gold production.
  • Ability to decide from a range of competing options where the outcomes are not entirely predictable.
  • Ability to quantify economic benefits associated with proposed and implemented process modifications.
  • Strong written and oral interpersonal skills, including motivating and harnessing the energies of others in a positive productive outcome.
  • Excellent organizational skills, detail-oriented and the ability to work with others in a team environment.

 

  • Education and Experience:
  • Degree in Mineral Processing, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or other science related field(s).
  • Two or more years of experience in ore processing operations preferred.
  • Communication Skills:
  • An advanced level of oral and written communication skills in English is required.
  • The ability to write and review detailed technical reports is required.

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs, talk, hear, and see.
  • Must be able to work shift work with 12-hour shifts.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 50 pounds) during the workday.
  • Work is in a surface mine plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
