Job Description

Oblong Industries is delivering the future of work with Mezzanine™ — a groundbreaking collaborative conference room solution that is changing the way groups of people meet and work. To do that, we need top-notch, lifelong learners who are excited to share ideas and solve challenging problems.

We are seeking a Front-End Engineer to work on a variety of different interfaces across the product. In this role you'd be both evolving existing applications and starting new green-field projects. An ideal candidate would have a Computer Science education, a strong Javascript background, and real-world experience working with a team to build production-quality React/Redux applications. We seek a quality mindset, embracing both the excitement of new features and the rigor of automated tests and continuous integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Build, design, and code new features and enhancements for various parts of Mezzanine
  • Create, extend, and maintain front-end interfaces and applications using tools like React, Redux, TypeScript, Sass, and Electron
  • Write automated tests and improve infrastructure using tools like Docker, Selenium, GitLab CI/CD, and RSpec
  • Participate in all aspects of product development using Agile/Scrum methodology

Qualifications

Basic qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science or related field
  • A strong track record of 3+ years of experience as a front-end developer
  • Enthusiastic references from team members who have worked with you

Nice to have:

  • Exposure to, and interest in, new software development approaches and techniques. Have you tried Elixir? Do you have an opinion on Kotlin? How far through the Haskell book did you make it?
  • Very strong communication skills -- for remote applicants, this is a requirement

To apply, include a short note about you and why you're interested in this job; if you can, include a pointer to a project you've worked on.
