Job Description

Job Purpose To oversee and manage all financial activities of the tin mining operation, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cost management, regulatory compliance, and the provision of strategic financial guidance to support operational and expansion goals. --- Key Responsibilities.

Financial Planning & Analysis

Job Purpose 
To oversee and manage all financial activities of the tin mining operation, ensuring accurate 
financial reporting, effective cost management, regulatory compliance, and the provision of 
strategic financial guidance to support operational and expansion goals. 
Key Responsibilities 
Financial Planning & Analysis 
Develop and manage annual budgets and financial forecasts for mining operations. 
Conduct variance analysis on production costs, sales, and capital expenditures. 
Provide financial modelling and scenario planning for exploration, processing, and 
logistics investments. 

Financial Reporting 
Prepare timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in 
line with IFRS or other applicable standards. 
Consolidate financial reports across exploration, mining, and processing units. 

Cost Control & Management Accounting 
Track and analyse mining project costs (CAPEX & OPEX), including drilling, hauling, 
refining, and Labor. 
Implement cost-reduction initiatives and productivity KPIs in collaboration with 
operations. 

Regulatory Compliance & Taxation 
Ensure compliance with local tax regulations, royalties, and mining-related fiscal 
laws. 
Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and government agencies such as the 
Ministry of Mines and NEITI (if in Nigeria). 

Cash Flow & Treasury Management 
Manage cash flow to ensure operational liquidity and timely supplier payments. 
Oversee banking relationships, forex transactions (especially for export sales), and 
fund repatriation (if applicable).

Inventory & Asset Management

Monitor inventory levels of tin ore, refined products, and spare parts. Track fixed assets and ensure accurate depreciation schedules and insurance. coverage. 🤝 Stakeholder Engagement

Support the CFO in investor relations, joint venture reporting, and financing negotiations.

Collaborate with mine engineers, geologists, procurement, and logistics to align financial objectives with operations

Qualifications

Qualifications & Experience 
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (Master’s or MBA 
preferred). 
Professional certification: ACA, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent. 
Minimum 5–7 years experience in financial management -preferably in mining, oil & 
gas, or heavy industry would be an added advantage 
Strong understanding of cost accounting in extractive industries. 
Knowledge of mining royalties, export documentation, and resource taxation is an 
advantage. 

Skills & Competencies 
Proficient in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Sage, or mining-specific ERPs). 
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
Excellent communication and stakeholder management. 
Detail-oriented with strategic thinking ability. 
Knowledge of sustainability reporting and ESG compliance is a plus.
