An oilfield services global provider are recruiting experienced Claim Specialist to work on a Trans-Nigerian Gas Pipeline (TNGP) project in Nigeria.
Based in Port Harcourt, Nigeria.
The Claims Specialist is responsible for reviewing, analysing, and processing claims that may occur during the execution of a contract. Your contributions will play a vital role in optimizing our revenue cycle and ensuring the financial health of the organization
Job Description
Represents the company regarding all matters of Claims, related to contractual stipulations.
Understands strategic, technical, legal, financing, taxation and commercial considerations of projects.
Ability to cope with complications and uncertainties of major multidisciplinary oil and gas projects in a complex business environment.
Ability to measure and track project claims for EPC contracts with single/multiple players, Onshore development, Shallow water and Deepwater contracts.
Lead the effective management of contract claims and variations to achieve the best commercial outcome. • Lead resolution of claims with project owners.
Advise and guide CP Leads, Contract Holders, on variation and change management defense.
Ability to coordinate with different departments as part of preparation for claim positioning.
Support preparation of claims position including all the necessary analysis and impact studies.
Advise and guide CP Leads, Contract Holders, on how to preserve and exercise contractual remedies to recover value. • Identify and monitor risk areas in key project contracts.
Provides guides towards the recommendations in a contract.
Participate in Claims reconciliations and negotiations.
Co-ordinates the processes and procedures of Claims.
Review contract scope of work, specification, project execution plan and accepted qualifications within the Contract
Provides necessary assistance and technical expertise to other Company Units and to projects concerning matters of contractual obligations and claims.
Auditing of subcontractors and vendors performance in line with agreed terms.
Participate in Contract review meetings.
Ensure compliance with industry regulations, contract terms, and legal requirements related to invoicing and claims processing and stay up to date with changes in billing and claims regulations and adjust processes accordingly.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in law, Business Admin, Finance, or any relevant discipline.
Seasoned professional with wide experience (15 years+) in a similar role
Detailed knowledge of project development with a further relevant qualification e.g. MSc Construction Law, Law or Arbitration or similar with extensive knowledge and experience (10 years+) of the role of a Sr. Claims Consultant on oil and gas projects.
Proven ability of successful development and negotiation of complex EPC contractual claim submissions.
Dispute resolution and arbitration experience is considered a plus.
Sound understanding of technical issues gained through successfully fulfilling variety of associated roles across the businesses in varied project working environments. Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
Able to fully take into account business and operations requirements and objective while discharging its duties of contract management and claims support.
Experience dealing with local (Nigeria)/international clients on EPC projects.
Experience with planning, identification, implementation, and monitoring project claims
Service oriented attitude.
