The actuarial department requires the service of a self-motivated individual, a go-getter with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and under pressure. The successful candidate will focus on technical marketing and all actuarial duties pertaining to the role.

Job Description

Responsibilities

  • Researching competitors and their products in the Retail risk (Life Insurance) space.
  • Providing tactical responses to new competitor launches and competitor activity in a simple and practical manner that shows opportunities for intermediaries.
  • Input into product development in terms of design of new products and enhancements.
  • Input into product marketing in terms of marketing and training material.
  • Dealing directly with executives and distribution channels in terms of competitor analysis, special product functionality, presentations, workshops and general product queries.
  • Travel from time to time to support the marketing of the various risk product solutions, e.g. on intermediary roadshows.
  • Building Models & Tools to assist distribution in the advice and selling process

Qualifications

  • Candidates with 1-5 years experience in this role or  a similar role will be given preference
  • Good progress with Actuarial Exams
  • A solid understanding of the South African Retail Life Insurance industry is required.
  • This includes knowledge about products, processes & other trends with a focus on the intermediated individual Life market

  • Good communication skills with an ability to present to audiences of different sizes
  • Strong written, presentation and analytical skills are essential
  • Technical proficiency and an eagerness to expand skills and develop knowledge
  • An ability to thrive in a busy environment with multiple deliverables
  • The ability to interact in a team-environment
  • High attention to detail
