Purpose of your role
The Deputy Financial Controller will report directly to the Group Financial Controller and play a pivotal leadership role in steering the global controllership function. This position is critical to ensure the timely, accurate delivery of financial reporting and the maintenance of a robust internal control framework across a global ASX-listed business.
The successful candidate will directly manage Regional Controllership resources across diverse time zones (including APAC, North America, and EMEA), utilising exceptional communication and leadership skills to drive operational excellence, mentor talent, and ensure strict alignment with global accounting policies.
The role will require operational oversight of tax compliance matters - specifically navigating Corporate Tax and GST/VAT requirements both in Australia and internationally - by effectively leveraging external advisors and guiding regional finance teams.
What you do
Global Leadership and Communication
- Cross-Border Team Management: Direct, mentor, and support regional finance team members across APAC, North America, and EMEA, overcoming time-zone challenges to ensure absolute clarity of deliverables.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a key communicative bridge across regions and departments, fostering a highly collaborative culture and continuous professional development.
- Executive Reporting: Support the Group Financial Controller to prepare high-level financial insights and reports for the Audit and Risk Committee and other stakeholders.
Financial Control and Operations
- Financial Accounting Operations: Oversee day-to-day global operations including financial accounting, regulatory, and statutory reporting activities across all locations.
- Month-End: Monitor and optimise the monthly close process across global entities, ensuring flawless compliance with internal deadlines, reporting standards, and control requirements.
- Financial Reporting and Audit: Review reconciliations and reporting prepared by regional teams. Assist with half-year and full-year Group financial statements, manage subsidiary reporting under AASB/IFRS standards, and confidently coordinate interactions with external auditors.
- Governance and Process Improvement: Review and implement global policies, while driving process improvement initiatives to scale finance operations.
Tax Oversight and Advisor Management
- Tax Compliance Oversight: Lead the timely and accurate completion of global Direct (Corporate) and Indirect tax (GST, VAT, WHT, etc.) deliverables.
- External Advisor Coordination: Serve as the primary operational point of contact to coordinate, manage, and review the work of external tax advisors across multiple jurisdictions to ensure compliance.
- Regional Support and Integrity: Support regional finance teams in addressing local tax requirements (both Australian and overseas), ensuring the integrity of international transfer pricing arrangements and monthly revenue accounting processes (Auto GL).

- CPA or CA qualified (or international equivalent)
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
- 10+ years’ experience in financial accounting or controllership roles, ideally within an ASX-listed or multinational environment.
- Strong Corporate & Indirect Tax Knowledge: Robust practical understanding of Australian Corporate Tax and GST, paired with the ability to confidently oversee international tax matters (e.g., VAT, WHT) through effective management of external specialists.
- Advanced Global Leadership: Demonstrated experience managing, inspiring, and aligning remote or regional finance teams across competing time zones.
- Exceptional Communication Skills: A proven ability to communicate clearly and engage effectively with stakeholders across different departments and regions, translating complex accounting or tax findings into clear outcomes.
- Technical Accounting: Deep knowledge of accounting standards (AASB/IFRS) and a proven track record supporting external audits and statutory reporting processes.
- Operational Agility: Excellent analytical skills, meticulous attention to detail, and a proactive problem-solving mindset with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Systems Proficiency: Strong systems skills, including Excel and multinational ERP systems (MS Office suite proficiency).
