Job Description
In this role, you will support indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and adherence to local VAT regulations. This is a great opportunity for someone looking to develop expertise in VAT, ESL, and Intrastat within an international environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and submit indirect tax returns (VAT, ESL, Intrastat) accurately and within statutory deadlines
- Support VAT settlement processes, including clearing and closing transactions
- Prepare reclassification journal entries (JE) for indirect taxes in receivable positions
- Process manual payments and reimbursement requests, ensuring accurate validation of general ledger accounts
- Assist in setting up correct SAP indirect tax rates and system logic
- Perform control framework activities related to indirect taxes
- Ensure compliance with local VAT regulations for assigned countries
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and records
- Assist with VAT audits, including preparation of requested documents for authorities
- Maintain proper record retention in line with legal and company policies
- Identify process improvements and propose solutions to enhance efficiency
- Analyze and escalate indirect tax issues to the supervisor
- Provide guidance and basic advisory support to internal stakeholders
- Participate in tax-related projects and initiatives
- Provide backup support across the Tax team as needed
- Perform other ad hoc tasks or projects assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (preferred)
- Up to 2 years of experience in finance, tax, or international business
- Previous experience in a Shared Services Center (SSC) finance environment is an advantage
- Basic knowledge of VAT; familiarity with multiple VAT legislations is a plus
- Experience working with SAP or other major ERP systems
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel
- VBA skills will be considered an asset
- Advanced level of English (both written and spoken)
