Job Description
The Packaging Sourcing Specialist will work, in alignment with the Global Packaging Sourcing Manager, to build & execute the category sourcing strategy: he / she manages sourcing projects for the America Central CG (Mexico), identifies and manage key stakeholders, collaborates and advises internal customers to enable the sourcing of Packaging Materials at the best total cost while maximizing value for the organization
Principal Accountabilities
- Support and implement commodity strategies for assigned category: include implementation plan, follow up to suppliers and plants on execution, manage minor incidents and provide solutions to any implementation issue.
- Develop market intelligence with commodity drivers to Packaging portfolio.
- Monitor packaging market evolution, supply/demand and cost drivers (indexes).
- Analyze and coordinate efforts to develop and implement commodity initiatives / projects to drive savings by proactively support identification, definition and implementation of Packaging savings projects in the plants in scope working with the Packaging network, Total System Cost Community, plant managers and financial team.
- Run local tenders in coordination with the Global Packaging Sourcing Manager, and negotiate commercial agreements for America Central CG.
- Negotiate legal contracts with suppliers with the support of Global Packaging Sourcing Manager, local Legal Department and in accordance with procurement and accounting policies and processes.
- Accountable of ensuring that once a negotiation is closed, the corresponding Contract repository document (Ivalua) is created following the procurement and accounting processes.
- Review suppliers performance to assure contracts adherence and drive continuous improvements.
- In coordination with Global Packaging Sourcing Manager, responsible of developing, presenting and ask for approval of each Gate of the O-I Strategic Sourcing Process for the CG. Also, follow up results with stakeholders & suppliers.
- Align and design Roadmap for the next 3-5 Y using Category Metrics logic and Sourcing Strategy. Also, socialize it periodically with the CG Stakeholders.
- Run SRM Platform with strategic vendors, influencing the implementation of the initiatives and transform in saving opportunities.
- Support local stakeholders and Accenture (based on escalation matrix) on operational procurement processes (PO, IR, invoice validation).
- Update PPE (Purchasing Price Evolution) reporting according to the defined cycles.
- Create, update and validate with finance/controlling the set of saving projects in EST (Enterprise Savings Tracker).
- Actively collaborate on the Standard Cost update, in coordination with Local Finance.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, Administration or related field.
- Five years of proven Procurement experience, preference Packaging, or related.
- Experience working in Manufacturing companies, Food Industry, etc.
- Strong Negotiation skills with proven success in negotiating and drafting contract terms and conditions.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Strategic Sourcing Process (desirable but not exclusionary)
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel (pivot tables, dynamic charts, big data bases), Copilot or AI tools.
- Working experience with SAP or other related ERP systems.
- Lean Six Sigma capabilities (desirable but not exclusionary)
- Project Management skills.
- Language: English Proficient level (Conversational)
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS
National Travel required is at 10% - 15%
