Job Description

You be responsible for IT solutions that support a broader global business process domain. For the domain assigned, they will create and maintain a strategy, vision, roadmap, project portfolio including budget and resources, conduct research on new technologies, design solutions, and monitor compliance with these activities. You will take leadership roles in projects as assigned. You will also work with customers to understand requirements, will identify the different architect domains required to participate in the solutions definitions and will orchestrate the work with them to convert those requirements into technical solutions. Additionally, you will work with executives within the business to identify long-term needs, understand the business processes architecture, and transfer those requirements to the solutions.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Leads, guides, and develops the O-I IT strategic direction for projects assigned
  • Coordinate and align with technology domains architects and the business for the development of the solutions architecture aligned on target architecture(s).
  • Get buy-in and the needed level of participation from the business areas and from Technology Domain Architects from the very start of the projects removing any preconception of EA being IT focused.
  • Keep the global strategic vision for projects assigned
  • Works with leadership to make recommendations on effective staffing and long-term support models.
  • Define concrete solutions for a project or application.
  • Define detailed solution specifications fitting to solution sketches.
  • Designs effective change readiness approaches for existing and new technologies.
  • Leads the definition of technical standards and guidelines that pertain to the projects assigned, taking input from across the globe, working in a way that provides the best and secure solution for the entire enterprise.
  • Works to exploit existing solutions that already exist in the environment with the intent to prevent duplicate solution creation.  Tries to minimize the overlap of duplicate functionality.
  • Works with other architects to integrate technologies together in an effective, secure, and cost-conscious manner.
  • Working with the technical team globally, establishes a realistic, cost constrained, and resource constrained roadmap with a three-year outlook for the technical domain assigned.
  • Monitors the global project portfolio for the project assigned.  Intervenes when necessary to ensure compliance with planned roadmap, budget limitations, resource constraints, and established standards.  
  • Participates in key project design reviews as part of the methodology process to ensure solution designs adhere to enterprise architecture guidelines.
  • Monitors regulatory guidelines to determine impact on enterprise architecture.  Makes recommendations for compliance.
  • Monitors emerging technologies and makes recommendations regarding changes in our established standards.  Leads testing for promising technologies for usefulness in our environment.
  • Monitors the work of global delivery teams to ensure compliance with established standards and procedures.  Works collaboratively with teams to course correct if necessary.  Escalates issues when necessary.
  • Work with customers to understand requirements and convert those into technical solutions.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in information technology or related discipline preferred, or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum 10 years applicable IT and/or Business experience required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience working within a global organization, including multi-country or global implementation experience required
  • Minimum 7 years of experience using structured methodologies for strategy, process, design, implementation and control preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of experience managing projects and/or people preferred
  • Highly effective communicator with the ability to influence and have an impact across the organization
  • Demonstrated ability to execute, design and implement enterprise level architectural solutions
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver projects on time, with high quality, and within budget
  • Ability to plan the full life cycle of technological solutions
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and conceptual skills
  • Desirable experience or good understanding of DevOps, Angular or React framework, Azure functions, Databases, Dockers, and Kubernetes
  • Experience architecting cloud IOT, event driven & micro services in the cloud.
  • Experience with either functional or technical use of SAP modules and components.
  • Technical knowledge with Windows or Unix/Linux operating systems and major database platforms such as SQL Server. 
  • Working knowledge of information security principles and practices.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft technologies such as Azure, SCCM, and Intune.  Active Directory experience is also a plus.
