Job Description

You will drive Safety performance within the facility to help O-I achieve best in class performance. You will work closely with the teams on preventative safety measures and will help ensure Safety compliance and improvement within the facility, spending up to 90% of your time on the workplace floor helping to do so. You will promote a safe workplace and support continuous improvements in safety culture. 

Job Purpose:  

  • Build relationships with internal stakeholders to engage the workforce 
  • Perform internal audits/ inspections and monitor to ensure compliance with all policies 
  • Support, coach and influence all staff within facility 
  • Review high risk jobs 
  • Develop safe systems at work 
  • Develop and execute training programs 
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders to develop and nurture best practice with operational safety as a core value.  
  • Be a trusted point of contact within the plant for all Safety issues.  

Qualifications

  • Minimum - NEBOSH National General Certificate 
  • At least 3 years of working as a Safety Officer in a manufacturing, construction and/ or engineering environment  
  • Previous experience working in high-risk environment, developing safe systems of work 
  • Strong relationship building, influencing and coaching skills
