Nutrition Action Zimbabwe (NAZ) will be implementing as part of a consortium a project earmarked at improving Nutrition and Health Outcomes in Shock-Affected Communities in Binga and Gokwe North districts. The intervention is earmarked at complementing Government of Zimbabwe efforts through promoting timely and equitable access to essential nutrition and health services. This is to be achieved through supporting a reliable supply pipeline, protection integrated delivery, and strengthened local health systems, with a focus on the critical first 1,000 days. The project will address the proximal causes of malnutrition, inadequate dietary intake and disease through access to diversified diets enabled by Multipurpose Cash Transfers (MCT. The project will strengthen integration of health and protection systems for active screening of malnutrition, SGBV and child abuse, early diagnosis, and treatment of acute malnutrition and common illnesses through village clinics, or Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM), Family MUAC, effective referrals of SGBV and child protection, and linkages to Health Facilities.
Through collaboration with the Government line ministries, the project will contribute towards addressing the underlying causes of malnutrition, including poor feeding practices, food insecurity, inadequate care and health services, unhealthy household environments through strengthened Maternal, Adolescents, Infant, Young Child and Feeding (MAIYCF) counselling, integrated WASH and risk communication, enhanced maternal and child health services. It will integrate protection and MHPSS support that reinforce safe, nurturing environments. The project will reinforce linkages to livelihoods, food security, and social protection programmes to sustain access to nutritious diets, reduce negative coping strategies, and build adaptive capacity. By engaging in national systems and supporting frontline service providers, it ensures a coherent transition from crisis response toward recovery contributing to respective countries’ efforts towards sustainable and resilient pathways.

Job Description
Position summary:
The Field Supervisor will provide leadership and management oversight of Nutrition Action Zimbabwe’s programme at district level. The post holder will ensure effective management of programs, resources, staff and support functions in the field sites and will firmly institute finance, human resources and operations systems. The Field supervisor will actively contribute to the country strategy according to prevailing needs, identify new opportunities for programming, and will ensure field level participation in programme and proposal design. They will also support the capacity development of staff in the field bases. The Field supervisor will be an effective representative of Nutrition Action Zimbabwe to local authorities, communities, INGOs and NGOS, and other stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities

Objective 1: Supervision and Coordination:
Technical Support:
- Ensures efficient and effective coordination across all elements of the NAZ Program’s in her/his areas.
- Supervises and oversees the operations of field offices in Gokwe North, work of the field staff and is responsible for optimizing their productivity through effective management and leadership (i.e., coaching/advising).
- Ensure staff are consistently complying and adhering to policies, procedures and guidelines articulated in the employee handbooks, and facilitate the dissemination of information to all staff members to promote transparency.
- Supports staff through consultation with head office (HO)-level technical team to regularly assess staff capacity building needs.
- Ensures the performance management process is well-planned and conducted in a timely for all direct-report staff. This includes setting performance goals, conducting progress check-ins, providing feedback, conducting year-end appraisals, and making recommendations for staff development and career advancement.
- Collaborate with HR Department to handle recruitment and training of staff according to needs.
- Leads and facilitates field staff in monthly meetings to review progress against plans, find solutions to problems, share lessons learned, exchange expertise across programs, and to motivate and encourage teamwork.
- Ensures that field staff are aware of and understand the programs’ goals and objectives, working approaches and methodology, and have all necessary information related to annual plans, targets, and implementation calendars.
- Supervises fund disbursement, reviews and approves the field monthly financial expenses in accordance with financial and purchasing policy and procedures.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by the Program Manager.

Objective 2: Program Implementation and Monitoring.
- Leads, coordinates and reports the implementation and achievement of the NAZ’s program targets in the district, while ensuring high impact for children, quality and cost-effectiveness in accordance with the strategy, policies and guidelines of the project.
- Conducts regular field visits to monitor and verify the programs’ progress and impact, understand the challenges and needs of stakeholders, and the appropriate solutions.
- Oversees the implementation of the ECHO-HIP project, including coordinating beneficiary selection activities as appropriate and guided by program document

Objective 3: Reporting and Documentation.
- Facilitate the development of annual and long-term plans and budgets for programs in charge appropriately to meet the goals and objectives of NAZ
- Coordinates the timely completion of annual planning.
- Prepares monthly and quarterly implementation and budget forecasting.
- Develops quarterly report and other reports for distributing to partners and donors.

Objective 4: External Coordination and Networking
- Attends to donor affairs including hosting donor and project site visits in collaboration with programs staff.
- Meets regularly with local government representatives, NGO partners.
- Promotes and protects the reputation of NAZ in external settings, ensuring that the organization’s experience and expertise is well communicated and consistently presented.
- Liaises with NGO Partners and Government Agencies, especially at provincial and district levels, this includes periodic meetings with partners to exchange information and updating programs’ work progresses.

Policy compliance – Mandatory Reporting Policy (MRP):
- Comply with all NAZ policies.
- Assist where necessary in undertaking activities that aim to prevent the occurrence of sexual abuse and exploitation of beneficiaries by NAZ and other humanitarian workers.

- Ensuring the non-disclosure of any information whatsoever relating to the practices and business of NAZ acquired in the course of duty, to any other person or organization without authority, except in the normal execution of duty.

Note: The role of Field Supervisor cannot be limited to the specific duties and tasks detailed herein and may be adjusted in accordance with the needs and operational circumstances of the organization. The success of the NAZ’s mission is the highest priority and all issues which arise must be addressed accordingly. Therefore, the Field Supervisor will be required to manage all unforeseen issues and circumstances and remain flexible to perform other duties, as and when required.

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training.
1. Education and Qualifications
- Academic Background: Degree in Nutrition, Agriculture, Public Health, Food Science, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Project Management: Professional certification in project management is highly desirable.
- M&E Training: Formal training or certification in Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) or Data Management is a substantial advantage.
- Proficiency in local languages relevant to the specific field of operation (e.g., Shona, Ndebele, or other local dialects) to facilitate direct community engagement.
- I.T Literacy: High level of computer literacy (Microsoft Office Suite, data management tools).
2. Professional Experience
- Sector Experience: At least 3 years (or substantial) experience in management and supervision within a humanitarian or development organization.
- Grant & Financial Management: Solid experience in grant management, including budget-holding responsibilities and donor reporting.
- Program Implementation: Proven skills in project/programme implementation, monitoring, review, and evaluation.
- Partnership Engagement: Experience working with partners and utilizing a participatory approach to program delivery.
- Security Management: Substantial understanding or proven experience in managing security issues within a field context.
3. Managerial & Operational Competencies
- People Leadership: Substantial experience in people management with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively at all levels.
- Operational Oversight: Substantial experience in office management with a solid understanding of logistics, HR, and finance procedures.
- Representation: Strong representational, political awareness, and advocacy skills.
- Communication: Possesses exceptional interpersonal and professional communication skills, with the proven ability to lead community-level stakeholder engagement, facilitate technical dialogues, and draft high-quality reports while interacting inclusively across diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
4. Personal Attributes & Requirements
- Autonomy: Proven ability to work toward tight deadlines with minimal supervision.
- Organizational Alignment: Deep commitment to and understanding of Nutrition Action Zimbabwe’s aims, values, and principles.
