Nutrition Action Zimbabwe (NAZ) is a registered Private Voluntary Organization (NGO) (PVO 38/19) working in Zimbabwe. Its major driving force is to meet the immediate and long term food and nutrition needs of targeted communities and building their resilience to respond to repeated shocks. 

NAZ is seeking to recruit  for Communication Assistant to support the implemention of NAZ projects. #NB: This recruitment is in anticipation of funding

Job Description

The communications Assistant will be responsible for public relations, marketing, and managing both the internal and external publics through appropriate and timely publications. S/he will be responsible for managing the NAZ website and social media platform and provide administrative support as may be requested.

Duties and Responsibilities

Communication and information management

  • Coordinate visibility actions in liaison with technical managers with guidance from the ED. This may include programme visibility material and other platforms like website, Facebook and twitter.
  • Facilitate the creation of communications policy and strategy, and work with other teams to set communications priorities.
  • Generate content that strategically communicates programmatic work in line with the organization’s values and donor regulations and ensuring that updates and images used in public campaigns such as media, website articles, social media and fundraising are in line with standard requirements and regulations.
  • Monitor and enforce responsible usage of information and images (photos/videos) in communications in compliance with the organizational and donor policy with consent and usage protocols
  • Ensure that fundraising efforts are actively and constantly supported by appropriate communications across all media outlets and publication materials of the organization.
  • Organise and coordinate trainings and reviews on communication and organisational feedback mechanisms in liaison with the technical managers.
  • Develop and maintain the project library, filing, recording, and reporting systems.
  • Write news stories, infographics, fact sheets and web and social media content.
  • Editing and proofreading copy, publications and websites content.
  • Assisting with design of communications materials (using tools such as Adobe In Design, Illustrator, any AI technologies and Photoshop).
  • Monitoring media in collaboration with local staff and writing a weekly media report,
  • Assisting in production and editing of short videos and photo montages for the web.
  • Assisting with internal/external communications, including production of newsletters.

Digital Marketing

  • Devising innovative digital marketing campaigns, that feed into the organisation’s overarching marketing strategy
  • Branding and marketing for the organization for different digital platforms. Creating engaging digital content that increases customer engagement and enhances the organisation’s online brand.
  • Support in the development and preparation of communication materials, fact sheets, brochures, newsletters and other publication for website and social media platforms.
  • As applicable, provide updates and support for programme websites
  • Facilitate the digital campaigns for fundraising and content that increase online media engagement.
  • As applicable, create, align and implement social media content in collaboration with team members.
  • Ensure adherence to partnership communications requirements. Includes meeting grant and implementation partnership standards.
  • Identify and carry out innovative digital marketing campaigns to accelerate brand awareness.
  • Producing regular digital dashboards for the organisation and reporting progress against set KPIs

Documentation and Reporting

  • Provide support in packaging monthly, quarterly and Annual Reports and Annual Progress Reports including other relevant sectoral reports as per the need of the program.
  • Assisting in project monthly and quarterly reports quarterly reports ensuring stories of change and testimonials are incorporated into the reports
  • Providing editorial support to programmes and projects, ensuring effective and timely dissemination of reports, in line with project documentation and clients expectations
  • Overseeing the collection and filing of all reports produced within programmes
  • Preparing ad hoc reports and brief notes as required
  • Develop and implement communications advocacy strategies and materials to guide advocacy campaign events.
  • Weekly media analysis to identify nutrition and food security issues requiring support and advocacy.
  • Collect and compile progress reports from the districts and prepare publicity materials in consultation with  relevant technical managers

Writing and Editing:

  • Type setting and publication of quarterly newsletters, annual reports, bulletins, brochures and other publication materials.
  • Support research, knowledge management, publication development of the organisation.
  • Photography and videography - Photo, video and audio editing
  • Working on organisational bios
  • Designing of project briefs, project updates so be shared with different stakeholders, on different platforms etc.
  • Edit and format photos and videos for social media and web
  • Designing infographics for social media platform
  • Support the compilation and editing of weekly, monthly report and donor reports
  • Edit the reports research articles, thesis and other documents as and when needed by the programme staff.
  • Support the translation of documents, video, audios and reports from English to different language and vice versa.

Other

  • Conduct research for various best practices depending on projects at hand
  • Provide support to any ad hoc activities related to communication that may arise
  • Assist in creating online fundraising campaigns for the organisation and marketing

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, Public Relations, Media, and Journalism and / or related field., strong graphic designing experience
  • Experience in a similar position and added advantage, Firm grasp on digital marketing, graphic design, and media apps.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; Ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Good communication skills with the community, energetic, flexible, reliable and passionate
  • Graphic Design skills: Very good knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. Working knowledge of Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects are essential requirements. Basic knowledge of HTML is highly desirable and basic knowledge CSS will be a plus.
  • Communication: Ability to summarise a large amount of information and translate it into a visually compelling product for a specific target audience.
