What's the role?

BASIC FUNCTION: Works within a team of financial consultants to help evaluate investment opportunities and assess financial risk in 76 Northwestern Mutual field offices throughout the country. Working with a financial consultant, conducts periodic reviews of office financial statements, credit metrics and sales KPI’s to ensure all stakeholders are informed on the financial health of an office. Supports the financial consulting team in generating office-level financial projections incorporating insurance and investment revenue as well as the expense structure of an office. Assists in performing ad hoc analyses on company-wide trends as well as investment opportunities proposed by field offices.

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in or will have completed junior year of a Finance and/or Accounting Program. This role requires:

  • Ability to understand and interpret financial statements.
  • High level of skill in MS Excel – including advanced functions, as well as pivot tables and charting capabilities. Coursework in financial modeling a plus.
  • Strong analytical and written communication skills with an ability to analyze a situation and make recommendations/observations.
  • Ability to work with and manipulate large datasets to assess trends and correlations.
  • Strong oral communication skills; the ability to articulate work performed, conclusions drawn. 

 
Hours:  Part-time during the school year, approximately 20 hours per week between the hours of 8:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M.  Full-time during the summer, approximately 40 hours per week.
