Job Description
The Non-Invasive Cardiology Assistant position reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Under the direct supervision of the Clinical Coordinator, the Cardiology Assistant provides delegated care to the patient and assists in daily activities of the Non-Invasive Cardiology Department.
Responsibilities:
- Provides clean and safe environment for patient care by following policy for cleaning and preparation of equipment and rooms.
- Transports patients for required services with proper identification.
- Stocks and maintains par levels of supplies in assigned area.
- Transports documents and performs other errands as required and necessary to provide safe patient care.
- Assists non-invasive cardiology personnel with patient care
- Assists with the following: answering phones, patient transport, supply ordering, stocking duties, cleaning and maintaining equipment and patient rooms, daily charge entry, daily charge reconciliation, daily physician dictation tracking and record keeping, medical record filing, online cardiac monitor patient enrollments, document scanning into EPIC, assisting with patient care as needed, assisting team lead to prioritize and maintain a timely patient schedule, update inpatient floors of testing times and changes in schedule, communication in Alert MD to physicians of tests pending dictation or changes in schedules, coordinate daily schedules with diagnostic imaging staff and the OR department, serve as a backup for cardiology services at the daily operational huddle, attends daily RTDC meeting, and assist centralized scheduling with the scheduling of exams,
- This position provides care from pediatric and older.
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- BCLS required within 6 months of employment
Preferred:
- Certified Nurses Aide
- On-the-job training, specific to the Non-Invasive Cardiology department
- Length of on-the-job experience to learn role at NM: 4 weeks
