Job Description

The Security Services Manager reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Security Services Manager is accountable for the campus security strategy, emergency preparedness and response, managing the security team, maintaining campus security systems, and partners with all outside law enforcement agencies.  The Manager also supports the long-term strategies encompassing security operations in all owned buildings.  

The portfolio under management includes properties in McHenry, Woodstock and Huntley campuses. 

Responsibilities:

  • Manages all Security operations related to hospital, commercial and residential real estate portfolio
  • Ensures security, safety and customer service for patients, visitors, physicians, and employees. 
  • Responds definitively and effectively to campus security breaches.  Oversees security incident response planning and investigation of breaches; assists with disciplinary and legal matters associated with such breaches.
  • Manages the annual budget and management plan for Security Services portfolio. Ensures the day-to-day operations align with the strategic and operational goals for the campus.
  • Identifies and eliminates security risks
  • Develops and maintains relationships with key internal partners to ensure public safety within and around properties
  • Supports major security related projects and physical security technologies, including various card key access systems, alarm systems, video surveillance systems, security services, IT and data security systems and various other related systems.
  • Complies with security compliance with regulatory standards, including Environment of Care (EOC), Joint Commission and Illinois Emergency Management Association (IEMA).
  • Ensures integrity and timely reporting of security metrics to leadership
  • Partners with all external law enforcement agencies carrying out duties within NMH properties
  • Complies with security laws, regulations, and contract requirements; directs subordinates in enforcing compliance; and maintains relationships with law enforcement, regulatory agencies, and other issuers of security requirements.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the security industry, preferably 3-5 in healthcare industry
  • 5+ years of security management experience
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and customer service orientation
  • Proven financial management skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • Strong process improvement skills
  • Experience planning and interfacing with local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s degree in law enforcement or criminal justice
  • Military and/or Law Enforcement Experience
  • Strong negotiating skills
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Union negotiation experience
