Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
Northwestern Medicine’s Bluhm Cardiovascular Institute (BCVI) is seeking an Outcomes Research Manager to lead a team in advancing outcomes-focused research. This is an exciting opportunity to drive projects that transform data into insights, elevating patient care and supporting clinical excellence.
This self-directed leader will oversee a team that assists with generating high-impact publications, presentations, and projects that strengthen the reputation and quality of clinical care at NM. This role will partner with clinical and administrative leaders to effectively operationalize an internal research infrastructure.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, supervise, and evaluate research support staff, overseeing their duties to ensure high-quality data abstraction, maintenance of data integrity, collection and submission of research registries data, completion of literature reviews, and preparation of manuscripts for publication.
- Guide and provide leadership on outcome-based research projects focused on retrospective data analysis.
- Co-lead the Cardiovascular Research Committee alongside key physician/research leadership.
- Track and report progress on research projects, publications, and presentations to the Division, Departments, and BCVI leadership.
- Oversee and support research fellows in partnership with physician counterparts.
- Contribute to the development and refinement of internal research guidelines and policies.
- Foster interdisciplinary collaboration with Clinical Trials Unit, Department of Surgery and Department of Medicine leadership, and Northwestern University research teams.
- Apply strong judgment and communication skills to guide research priorities and ensure alignment with clinical excellence.
- Cultivate a team environment that promotes professional growth, accountability, and collaboration.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or another healthcare-related field and 3-5 years of related experience.
Preferred:
- Master of Science in Nursing or another healthcare-related field.
- Prior experience in cardiovascular clinical or research setting.
- Experience in nursing with a focus on patient outcomes, quality improvement, or outcomes-based/other research.
- Previous leadership experience in research or clinical setting.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build collaborative relationships.
