Job Description

  • 40 Hours/week
  • Weekend On Call Rotation approximately every 3 months (rotating with other staff)
  • 1 Holiday required every 24 months 
  • Ability to work occasional flex hours, as needed, to train new staff on all shifts

The Sterilizing Educator reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Medicine (NM), adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines, and all other regulatory and accreditation standards. 

Responsibilities:

  • Assists department manager with day-to-day operations.
  • Responsibilities include the coordination of workload, educates/trains staff and problem solving.
  • Responsible for decontamination, cleaning, processing and sterilization of supplies and equipment dispensed by the department.
  • Works closely with leadership staff within Perioperative Services. 

Qualifications

Required:

  • Previous hospital sterilizing department experience or equivalent
  • 3 year experience in Central Sterilizing department
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Preferred:

  • 2+ years' experience educating/training skills.
  • CERT SPDT
