Job Description

The Wellness Technician I reflect the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Under the direction of the Wellness Manager, Team Lead, and/or Wellness Technician II executes screenings for assigned client companies impacting employee’s health within the client company. Facilitates operations and administration of Health Evaluation screenings, programming, and education.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs phlebotomy collections per age related standards. Provides appropriate post-phlebotomy patient care. Identifies the need for patient medical assistance as appropriate.
  • Participate in wellness screening team in the administration and all operations of Health Evaluations and other screening events. Acts as point of contact to external clients/patients.  Manages work efficiently, completing tasks and assignments on time.
  • Clinicals include: blood pressure, body composition, registration, phlebotomy assistance, fingerstick, EKG, balance screens, and more.
  • Addresses questions and concerns promptly or identifies appropriate person or recourse to do so.
  • Promote and educate clients on health screening packages to companies under the guidance of Wellness Manager and assisted by Wellness Technician II.  
  • Maintains records required for department, regulatory, and statistical purposes.  Performs clerical work; documenting, faxing, printing, filing, labeling and reviewing.
  • Demonstrates the values of team concept on a consistent basis. Interacts with all team members in a professional manner and aids/assists coworkers to complete assigned tasks.  Respects diverse opinions and styles and acknowledges the assistance and contributions of others.
  • Initiates the meeting of responsibilities without prompting and can complete tasks independently without immediate supervision.
  • Assist in special events for programs such as Health Fairs and Health Expos.
  • Role models system values, customer service focus and organization standards in daily interactions.  Presents a friendly, approachable, professional demeanor and appearance.
  • Adheres to and is responsible for the safety standard of Northwestern Medicine including the completion of the mandatory organizational safety standards on an annual basis.  Follows JCAHO National Patient Safety goals in regard to two patient identifiers and handwashing.
  • Maintains confidentiality for our patients and their families as outlined in the Northwestern Confidentiality Policy and shows the same level of respect for every Associate within Northwestern
  • Participates in efforts to reduce costs, streamline work processes, and improve and grow services we provide.
  • This position performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Experience in phlebotomy or training from a phlebotomy school or institution.
  • Possesses good communication skills both verbal and written.
  • Phlebotomy Certification

Preferred:

  • CPR Certification
  • Associate or bachelor’s Degree
  • Clinical experience
