Job Description

Northwestern Medicine is seeking a BE/BC Palliative Medicine physician to join the Palliative Medicine Team.  Northwestern Medical Group is the premier provider of healthcare services in the Chicago area, with more than 700 primary care physicians and specialists.  Our team works together to provide excellent patient care and exceptional patient experiences using models that follow best practices in outpatient and inpatient settings. Components of the existing program include:

  • 4 APRN’s and 1 SW.
  • EPIC electronic medical record system wide
  • Opportunity to collaborate with all oncology disciplines
  • Tight integration with the Robert H Lurie Cancer Center
  • Clinical Assistant Professor (or higher) academic appointment

Job Expectations:

  • Consults: in-patient and out-patient.
  • Provide medical care related to symptom management
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team to develop a written plan of care
  • Develop and facilitate goals of care for patients in the in-patient and out-patient setting
  • Actively participate in process improvement related to system and department goals
  • Participate in Tumor Boards
  • Serve as collaborating physician to advanced practice providers
  • 32 hours direct patient care (includes in-patient and out-patient)
  • Follow patients in out-patient clinics weekly
  • EPIC electronic health record system wide

Participate in program development and strategic planning:  

  • Participate in committees and project work as appropriate
  • Assures compliance with regulatory standards
  • Seeks out clinical research opportunities to help expand our research foundation
  • Assists with the recruitment, on-boarding, orientation and development of program clinicians and staff
