Job Description

The Invasive Procedure Technician reflects the mission, vision, and values of Northwestern Memorial, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

Assists with all department related diagnostic and invasive procedures to generate information necessary for the diagnosis and subsequent interventions of inpatients and outpatients.  Performs, assists and supports patient care activities.  Services provided are in accordance with industry standards, department protocols, and hospital policies and procedures.

Invasive Procedure Technician, CROU and PACU The CROU and PACU

Invasive Tech will play a critical role in supporting the nursing staff in the preparation and recovery of patients undergoing invasive and non-invasive cardiology procedures.

This position focuses on ensuring seamless patient flow, maintaining a clean and safe environment, and delivering exceptional patient care.

The technician will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to provide efficient and compassionate care to patients in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment.

Additional Responsibilities:

Patient Preparation and Recovery Assist nursing staff in prepping and recovering patients for invasive and noninvasive cardiology procedures, provides education/instructions to patient/significant others as needed to minimize anxiety of patient/significant other.

Communicate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, and other healthcare team members to ensure patient needs are met.

Preps anatomic area to be used during procedure while respecting patient privacy and comfort.

Monitors patients in the prep and recovery area under the supervision of nursing staff, assisting with vital signs, ambulation, and post-procedure instructions.

Obtains and accurately records electrocardiograms (EKGs) for patient assessment and diagnostic purposes

Measures and records patient vital signs, height, and weight accurately as part of routine assessments

Facilitate transportation of patients

Actively participates in team meetings to improve workflow and patient care.

Equipment and Environment Management:

Maintain a clean, organized, and stocked prep and recovery area, ensuring equipment and supplies are readily available including assisting in restocking and inventory management of supplies, including emergency equipment.

Clean and disinfect equipment and patient care areas to maintain infection control standards

Qualifications

Requirements:

Basic Life Support (BLS) certification

Understanding of medical terminology

Strong computer skills

Ability to work productively in a fast-paced environment

Excellent communication skills

Strong problem-solving skills

Highly effective organizational skills

Preferred:
2 years of relevant clinical experience (GI Lab, Invasive Cardiology, or Interventional Radiology)
