Job Description

Hours are: 7:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

The Anesth Technologist Cert Lead reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organization’s Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.

The Certified Anesthesia Tech Lead provides perioperative technical and clinical support to members of the anesthesia team in relation to all anesthesia procedures. The Anesthesia Technologist Lead works as a member of the surgical team, providing patient care under the direct supervision of a licensed anesthesia provider. Under the general supervision of the Anesthesiologists the Anesthesia Technologist Lead directs routine day-to-day workflow of the Anesthesia Technicians, resolves equipment, resource, logistics and related problems as well as support the OR department and staff.

Responsibilities:

  • Functions as the operational expert in all aspects of anesthesia support duties.
  • Reads the schedule at least two days in advance to address equipment and personnel requirements.
  • Is responsible for securing the departments schedules for call, holidays and vacations.
  • Routinely monitors the performance of Anesthesia Technician team and collaborates with appropriate supervisors to improve outcomes.
  • Precipitates the needs of difficult cases and prioritizes work assignments and team efforts accordingly.
  • Stays abreast of new and emerging trends in anesthesia and anesthesia related equipment.
  • Acquires quotes, sets up trials and addresses the department needs regarding company reps and new equipment.
  • Physical ability to lift, push, pull and move at least 35 lbs.
  • Attend in-services for continuing education/maintenance of competency.
  • Orients new staff to the Anesthesia Technician role.
  • Understands care needs of age specific populations: neonate to 10 years old through geriatrics 64 years and older.
  • Rotates to meet the needs of the department and hospital, willingness for flexibility and on call coverage is essential.
  • Understands, sets up and assists with emergency, difficult and awake fiberoptic intubations.
  • Prepares patient and assists provider with invasive line placement and monitoring--preps patient and prepares sterile field as well as all equipment/supplies for arterial lines, central venous lines, additional peripheral vascular lines, cardiac catheters, femoral lines, unilateral ventilation and TEE probe management.
  • Prepares, disinfects, and troubleshoots all anesthesia-related equipment, including movement of equipment and supplies to support room turn-over and readiness.
  • Maintains appropriate inventory levels of supplies and equipment related to anesthesia care.
  • Provides clinical and technical support to anesthesia staff wherever needed in the institution--ICUs, IR, MRI, GI, CT, EP, ED.
  • Serves as a resource for anesthesia to staff in other departments.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Basic Life Support.
  • ASATT Certified Anesthesia Technician.
  • If candidate is not a Certified Anesthesia Technologist, candidate must have 3-5 years of recent Anesthesia Tech experience and commit to enroll in ASATT Bridge Program within 1 year of hire and obtain certification within 3 months of program completion.
